Comets, Asteroids, and Meteors

  • My topics is about Meteors, Asteroids, and Comets. A asteroid is any of the thousands of small bodies of from 480 miles(775km)to less than one mile. A meteor is a transient fiery streak in the sky produced by a meteoroid passing through the earth's atmosphere;as hooting star or bolide. a celestial body moving about the sun, usually in a highly eccentric orbit, consisting of a central mass surrounded by an envelope of dust and gas that may form a tail that streams away from the sun.
  • Asteroids and comets are considered remnants from the giant cloud of gas and dust that condensed to create the sun, planets, and moons some 4.5 billion years ago. Today, most asteroids orbit the sun in a tightly packed belt located between Mars and Jupiter. Comets are relegated to either a cloud or belt on the solar system fringe. Gravitational tugs, orbital collisions, and interstellar jostles occasionally perturb an asteroid or comet onto a wayward path. There are hundreds of thousands of meteors orbiting the sun.
